A Foundation Built for Growth

U.S. 19, U.S. 41, State Road 44, and the Suncoast Parkway (SR 589) all run through Citrus County. These routes provide direct access to I-75 and connect businesses to Tampa, Orlando, Ocala, and Gainesville. Freight moves quickly and efficiently, without the congestion of larger markets.

Power is provided by Duke Energy, Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, and Sumter Electric Cooperative. All three serve the county with a focus on reliability and long-term growth. Infrastructure upgrades are already underway to support new development and future energy demand.

Water and sewer services are provided by Citrus County Utilities and by the cities of Inverness and Crystal River. Sewer extensions are currently being built out at strategic locations, including Holder Industrial Park, backed by state and local investment.

Comcast recently completed an $8 million network expansion to improve fiber access across the county, with service now reaching into several business zones. Lumos is currently investing $100 million in a new fiber optic network which will greatly expand access and service to all of Citrus County. Spectrum already has existing services across Citrus County and is continually updating and upgrading their network. Citrus County’s broadband initiative continues to push service into more unserved and underserved areas.

The Cross Florida Barge Canal and Port Citrus provide long-term potential for waterborne freight and development. While most properties in Citrus County do not have direct rail service, access may be available through regional connections. Transportation infrastructure continues to evolve alongside future growth.
